Thanksgiving Weekend

The spouse, spawn, and I will be leaving this evening for the Thanksgiving jaunt, although I’m feeling less-than-jaunty about some of the things I’ll have to do during that time (and that’s before I come home to about 70 term papers).

However, there are things for which I’m thankful, and you, my readers, are among them. I began the blog at least in part as a way of distracting myself from something hideous in my life, something with which I suspect I’ll always have to deal. It has worked in that regard, but better still, it has given me access to a number of interesting people and conversations, and provided me with fuel for thought and a good number of laughs. It — and you — have also reminded me that I enjoy the ongoing business of describing the view from my position, and it has even tempted me to try writing fiction again, which I haven’t done in several years.

That’s a lot to ask of a bunch of electrons, and even more to ask of the folks who have chosen to listen. Thanks for that. Blogging will be sparse-to-nonexistent until at least Sunday. Have a happy Thanksgiving, and be safe.
