Or more accurately, did it yesterday. The Mondoville Bud and I headed down to Real City, and things were bought, including some specialty drumsticks for me and a bass rig for him. While there, I decided that if I wanted a cheap practice kit, I could do worse than one of these. (What I really want is one of these or this, but those will have to wait for that lottery win I have planned for next week…)
After a swing by the comic store, we hit the record store, where I got around to snagging Jeff Beck’s classic Truth album (which included half of Led Zeppelin, Aynsley Dunbar, the amazingly underrated Mickey Waller, and some kid named Rod on vocals who might have gone on to do other things.)
Finally, I grabbed P.J. O’Rourke’s Don’t Vote: It Just Encourages the Bastards. Even if you don’t always agree with him, and I don’t, he’s funny. I can always use funny.
I’ve already put the sticks to work at church this morning and started P.J.’s book. A few midterms to grade, and band rehearsal tonight. Not a bad weekend, and only a week before Spring Break.
