Fighting for Truth, Justice, and the International Community or Something…

Apparently Superman’s writers have decided to have him renounce his American citizenship. Oddly enough, this doesn’t bother me much; after DC killed him off, I actually was upset — upset that something in which I had invested some of the imagination and energy of my childhood could be so cynically exploited by a marketing machine. However, I realized later (with an assist from the wisdom of Mrs. M) that the Superman I met when my dad bought comics for me was truly invulnerable — including invulnerability to the whims of gimmick-seeking writers and artists. The Superman on the poster in my bedroom on Bonnamere Drive is safe in my memory, beyond their reach.

Meanwhile, I wonder what Law and the Multiverse will have to say about this one.

UPDATE: This is what they have to say — thanks to the Major for the heads-up.

Illegal immigrant anyway; acquired it under false pretenses.

Can we find a long form Kryptonian birth certificate? Also, I’m pretty sure Supes/Kal-El was given citizenship by act of the govt. Clark Kent, on the other hand, is fraudulent.
