Welcome to Gradeapalooza, Population: Me.

I’m going to be frantically busy for the next week or two. I received my first two batches of research papers today, with two more coming tomorrow. Finals begin next week, and three candidates for the Mondoville presidency will be on campus next week as well. Ergo, blogging is likely to be light. Nonetheless, I’ll pop in when I can, and as ever, I appreciate your visits and comments.

Sounds like you’re going to have an extraordinarily busy next couple of weeks. We’re gearing up for the same end of term crush at my place of employment also. Good luck as you navigate the term paper waters. Hopefully there aren’t too many Titanics among them!

I have found that at least 50% of all take home papers will plagiarized and none of them will have any citations what so ever. What is the ratio in Mondoville? The only decent ones I have read recently have been from my one honors thesis student and my two PhD students.

Well, we do better than that, but too many of my kids have been (wrongly) taught that paraphrasing obviates the need to give credit. Regrettably, I have to counter those years of wrong teaching.

I am in gradeapalooza, too–can’t wait until my train leaves. (My students don’t quite have the hang of paraphrasing OR in-text citations, but for the most part they understand they have to use it.) Too bad I’m only at mid-term!
