Just Checking In

It’s a full day today for the Spawn’s favorite medievalist. In a few minutes I’m headed to a marching band competition. It’s an hour away, and the Spawn doesn’t perform until 2 p.m., but there’s a frappuccino preserve en route, so…

After that, I’m hustling back to Mondoville in time to get civilized and catch Gordon Lightfoot, who is appearing at Mondoville’s main tourist attraction. Yeah, it’s a sold-out show, but the guitarist for the Berries works at the venue, so he scored me a couple of tix as a birthday present. I’m seriously stoked about this — I’ve enjoyed Lightfoot’s work since I was a kid, and when the Spawn was small and colicky, “Canadian Railroad Trilogy” always seemed to have a pacifying effect on her (and thereby on me.)

After that, it’s back to the high school to await the Spawn’s return, which means I’ll probably be home after midnight. So as I said, a busy day.

To tide you over, here’s a dose of garage rock from the legendary 13th Floor Elevators. Hope your day runs smoothly!
