Soundalike Saturday

One of the things that tickles me about the garage rock scene was the tendency for groups to file the serial numbers off songs they liked and turn them into new material. One of the classic examples of this was the Gants’ reworking of the Beatles “In My Life” into “I Wonder”:

But my current favorite example is this one. Take the Golden Catalinas’ 1966 classic “Varsity Club Song”:

Now check out contemporary revivalists the Bomboras, with “(You’ve Got to) Get In Line” Add a rave-up section, tweak the lyrics, and presto!
