For folks in a creative field who taste some degree of success, there’s bound to be a temptation to do what worked last time. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?
But it’s possible to overdo it. As Exhibit A, I offer you the classic 60s tune from The Outsiders, “Time Won’t Let Me.”
A big hit, and justifiably so. It’s a song meant for driving a little too fast with the top down beneath a cloudless summer sky. But then, the band needed a follow up, and they gave us this:
Yes, both tracks were originals, at least insofar as they were written within the band. I’m not really sure that original quite applies to the second one, though.
