Auto Da Fe

Like most folks who have spent much of their lives in Kentucky, I’m passionate about Kentucky basketball, and that’s only enhanced by the fact I’m an alum. Despite all the awfulness of big-time college sports (and there’s more than enough), I still joy in the game, and even more so in the community of UK fans.

One of the stock cliches about Kentucky fandom is that in the Commonwealth, basketball is a religion. My typical response to that is, “No, it’s far more important than that for most.” Still, the two occasionally intersect, which leads us to last night’s viewing party at the University’s Christian Student Fellowship. What you’re seeing is the crowd watching what would prove to be the game-winning shot for Kentucky.

So until tomorrow night’s game (and after) — Go Big Blue.
