QotD: Own Petard Edition

I probably shouldn’t oughta put the boots to him when he’s down, but I can’t help recalling that my dear friend the Mad Dog (and that’s not snark) was quite fond of trotting out press reports that any particular thing said by the GOP was the vilest lie in history, and that perforce the GOP were Even More Evil Than Kanye(TM).

it may be time to reconsider this whole veracity issue. And in the process, we might want to think a bit about the self-appointed truth detectors in the media. Now, this isn’t unfamiliar ground, but over at Reason, Matt Welch cuts to the heart of the issue:

This is a gut-check moment for the mostly left-of-center journalists who have made such a show these past few years of dropping false equivalence and calling out political bullshit at the source. You can subject the policy and politics of Obamacare to truth-scans, or you can carry water for the president. You cannot do both, at least without a laugh track.

Of course, the idea that politicians lie is about as shocking as the idea that there was gambling in Casablanca. I am having fun, however, watching the Baghdad Bob act from Washington and the bootlicking toadies in the media. At least the Mad Dog has the good sense to withhold comment, even if he is on Team Jefe.
